A New Day!

I have been away from writing for too long.  I want to get into it more.  Those of you that have been on the site in the past might notice some changes in header here.  I have switched out a few things to express more of my interests now.  It isn’t that cloth diapers are no longer an interest of mine, I just don’t have them in my life as much as I did before.  Things in my life have changes.  The look and layout is going to continue to change.  I am letting go of perfect and I am going with the flow and letting the words fall out of my fingers.  No more waiting for the right time to say or do something.  If you wait too long, that right time may never come.  Time to move on!

It is amazing how much can change as your life goes on.  How things change just based on the ages of your children and those around you.  How things change based on your priorities.  How it changes based on the things that you put first in life.

I would like to think that I always put my family first.  That isn’t always the case.  While they are the why behind the things I do, they are not always the main focus.  And in some areas people will say that is self centered of me.  And in some cases those people are right.  When it comes down to it, I haven’t always put myself first either.  I tend to put my children first.

Who should come first?  My grandfather told me something after my husband and I had our first child.  He told me that I need to take care of myself first.  That if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be around to take care of my family.  I never really listened to him.  He is right though.  We need to take care of ourselves or else we will not be around to help those around us the way we would like to.  It is similar to what they tell you when you are flying.  When the masks fall down, you put your mask on first, then you can help those around you that might not be able to do it on their own.

Some people have a harder time grasping this than others.  You really do need to take care of yourself though.  Lead by example.  Show those around you that you care about yourself and help them as needed.  You never know who you might inspire by making smart and healthy choices in your own life.  Develop yourself daily.  Take steps to make yourself healthy.  Take steps to make yourself happy.  This will flow into your family and friends.  Be the best you that you can be.  Find what brings you joy.  Share your joy with others.  Be thankful for what you have and work for the things you want and need.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  May you all have a safe, relaxing, and fulfilling day and life!
