Review: Dirt Devil Dinamite® Plus Bagless Quick Vacuum

Sadly, I went to vacuum and found that ours had something attacked the cord.  I typically always wrap up the cord and put everything away.  For some reason I didn’t this last time.  And there were slashes in the cord.  So I looked online and drooled over the Dyson that I really want.  Problem is we do not have $400 right now for a vacuum.  I then looked for something that might be just as good.  I decided that I didn’t want to get anything too expensive and just save for my dream vacuum.

I wanted to stay under $100.  I found a Dirt Devil on Amazon and went for it.  I must say I was worried.  I didn’t want to pay too much and end up hating it.  That was not the case here.

It is light weight.  It ways less than 9 lbs.  I really love that about it.  I am able to carry it anywhere in the house I need. to.  I have two kids to care for.  So light weight is nice when I have an almost 20 lb 9 month old to carry and an almost 40 lb TALL 3 year old that still likes to be picked up.  For there to be one less heavy thing to pick up while cleaning is awesome!

I tried it on a small patch outside of our bedroom door.  I think it is safe to say that I would be embarrassed to post pictures of what it pulled up.  I am happy with the amount of suction it has.  There is only one option on it and it does a great job.  That patch looked wonderful and felt nice and fluffy when I was done.  No more mulch from the playground that was stuck in my son’s shoes.  He brings shoe fulls home with him daily.

It does have a HEPA filter on it.  We have two chihuahuas and a fair amount of dust in our house.  So this was a must.  Our old vacuum had this as well.  Either we all the sudden had a ton of dirt, dander, and dust fall down in the carpet or our old vacuum just wasn’t cutting it.  It isn’t the easiest thing to clean off.  These filters never are though.  I am still working out an easy way to clean it off.  I don’t want to just toss them each time.  I would think that is such a waste.  I need to do it outside though or else all the dust is back in the air and on the carpet.

It is a bagless vacuum.  I love to not have something else to put in the trash.  I would much rather dump it outside or in the trash.  I am not a fan of the paper/plastic bags filled with dirt that then goes in another plastic bag.  Most of the time, less is more.  Or at least less in the trash is better for our landfills and for us.  The downside to this vacuum is that the container to keep the dirt in is small.  If you have a big mess, you will be lucky if you don’t have to dump it part of the way through. Once your house is clean, I think it would be fine to tidy each week and dump in the trash.  Right now we are just finding out how much we really needed something better.

What is also great about this is that it is so easy that my three year old son could use it.  He likes to play with it anyway.  I am hopeful that his cleaning spirit will stay with him when he is old enough to really help cleaning.  Right now we mainly just have him put his toys away.

All in all, I think it was money well spent.  I will have to check back and let you all know how it does over time.
